As a developer, you’re the key to a successful GiveCamp because you are volunteering your time to do the work that delivers value to the non-profits and community.
Who are you?
- You’ve worked on software projects before or have an interest in participating in them
- You have an interest in doing one the typical roles on a software project (project manager, frontend developer, backend developer, user experience designer, etc)
- You are available on the dates of the event to meet in-person at the Microsoft Redmond campus
Why are you participating?
- To have a positive impact in your community
- To connect with like-minded individuals in the Seattle area
- To get experience working as a team to build and augment software solutions
- To get exposure to a different aspects of software development that you’re interested in (UX, Project Management, frontend, backend, mobile app, etc)
What will you do?
- Work with non-profits to understand their needs
- Identify creative solutions to nonprofit’s problems

- If others show interest, bring them along
- Ask questions on social media or via email
- Block out your calendar for the dates
- Install the latest Microsoft Teams on your laptop and phone
- Run a test call
At the event
- Show up for the dates of the event
- Review this year’s projects
- Share contact info with team (email, phone)
- Build connections
- Collaborate with your team
- Deliver value to your local non-profits and community
- Stay in touch with your teammates
After the event
- Update your social media with any highlights (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Mastodon, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit)
- Follow up with your new connections
- Consider volunteering in future years
